Incoming Exchange Students: study mobility at UNISA
Incoming students participating in a mobility programme are allowed to carry out part of their study plans at a partner Institution with a current inter-institutional agreement. The study period abroad can last from a minimum of 2 months (or 1 academic term or trimester) to a maximum of 12 months.
Students will be able to improve their language and communication skills, get aware of different educational programmes and learn to be more independent.
Students not only will have the chance to continue their studies in a new environment and live a different culture but also all credits obtained abroad will be recognized by their home Institution at the end of the mobility period.
Erasmus+ - Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) bring together students and staff from different backgrounds for a unique learning experience that blends virtual collaboration with short-term physical mobility. These programmes give participants the chance to connect across borders, exchange ideas, and work together on specific learning goals. They offer a unique opportunity to gain international experience by participating in intensive learning, teaching, and training activities. The physical mobility component is complemented by an online element, enabling teamwork, knowledge exchange, and cross-cultural collaboration on specific learning objectives.
UNISA Scholarship Programme
As part of the University of Salerno's internationalization initiatives, a targeted recruitment strategy is implemented for master's degree programs aimed at students who are not citizens of the European Union, who reside abroad and hold a degree awarded outside the EU.
Each year a call for applications is published to recruit 50 non-EU students for the university's master's degree programs. Potential applicants must submit an application and the required documentation by following the specific procedures outlined annually on the same page where the call for applications is published.
Please note that pre-enrolment at the University of Salerno does not, in any way, guarantee the possibility of obtaining an appointment at diplomatic or consular representations for the submission of visa applications.
Furthermore, as stated in the ministerial circular entitled “Procedures for the entry, stay, enrolment of international students and the recognition of qualifications for higher education courses in Italy valid for the academic year 2025–2026” (page 7), the prior acceptance of a candidate by the university does not confer any right to obtain a visa, since the issuance of study visas falls under the exclusive competence of the individual diplomatic and consular representations.
Erasmus+ Programme - International Credit Mobility - KA 171
In the framework of the Erasmus + Program, the KA171 - International Credit mobility supports the implementation of mobility projects for study / traineeship / teaching and staff training between the Higher Education Institutions belonging to the Programme Countries and those belonging to the Partner Countries.
It allows the realization of mobility projects that, in line with the internationalization strategy of the participating institutions, aim to attract students and teachers to the European institutions and, at the same time, offer new mobility opportunities to their students and staff.
Key Action 1 - Individual Mobility for Learning Purposes - enables students and recent graduates to enhance their education and career prospects in a foreign country and offers teachers and administrative staff the opportunity to improve or enhance their learning and teaching methods and to update their skills. In the framework of Key Action 1, a specific action called International Credit Mobility (ICM - KA107) has been envisaged since 2015, which offers the opportunity for students and teaching and administrative staff to undertake international mobility beyond the borders of Europe, opening up participation to so-called Partner countries. This action has been re-proposed in the new 2021/2027 program under the name KA171 - International mobility involving third countries not associated with the program.
The aim of this action is to promote the internationalization of higher education and to strengthen the attractiveness of European universities while at the same time broadening the range of possible destinations by opening up to countries in the rest of the world.
Details and requirements for each project will be published in their related call.
Double Degree Program
The double degree program offers students belonging to partner Institutions involved in the double degree agreements the possibility of spending one year at the University of Salerno, acquiring core knowledge skills and specializing in their field of interest attending part of their study program. Students must be selected by their home institution.
International student mobility for traineeship
Students from Universities participating in the Erasmus+ program can apply to undertake a traineeship at the University of Salerno for a period lasting from 2 to 12 months.
Students can submit their requests to the relevant Department (https://dipartimenti.unisa.it/en) and specifically to the Departmental Coordinator for International Mobility.
Coordinators will be responsible for identifying the unit (laboratory) where the candidate can undertake the internship and the teacher/tutor who will supervise them.
Upon acceptance by the tutors, candidates are responsible for initiating the necessary administrative procedures as follows:
the Learning Agreement for Traineeship (provided by their home University) and a copy of their identity card/passport must be sent to the International Office (incomingstudents@unisa.it) at least 3 months before the mobility starts, so that the International Office can provide the student with all necessary information to proceed with the mobility and registration on the Esse3 platform (the system where student career is managed).
No applications will be accepted without a fully signed Learning Agreement for Traineeship by all parties (home university, UNISA tutor, student).
The certificate of arrival, as well as the certificate of stay, will be signed by the UNISA Tutor upon start and end of the mobility period. The fulfillment of the mobility and achievement of all learning objectives will be outlined bu the UNISA Tutor in the Learning Agreement for Traineeship (usually the After the mobility section - Table D - of the Learning Agreement for Traineeship). At the start, as well as at the end of the mobility, a copy of the certificates must be sent to the International Office (incomingstudents@unisa.it).
Living expenses (accommodation, transportation, etc.) and accident/ liability insurance are fully covered by the trainee and/ or the sending Institution.
