Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH GOOD PRACTICAL AND THEORETICAL PREPARATION IN FRENCH. THE GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THIS COURSE IS TO PROVIDE BASIC METALINGUISTIC LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE IN FRENCH AT A TEXTUAL LEVEL, BE ABLE TO TRANSLATE A FRENCH TEXT INTO ITALIAN, AND ACHIEVE A LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE CORRESPONDING TO A2 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR THE KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES (CEFR). THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES IS VERIFIED IN A WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAM.
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF AN ANNUAL MODULE AND ANNUAL LANGUAGE EXERCISES CLOSELY INTEGRATED AND COORDINATED BY THE TEACHER.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL:
-LEARN, IN WRITTEN AND ORAL FORMS, THE FRENCH LANGUAGE CORRESPONDING AT LEAST TO A2 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES;
-KNOW ABOUT THE BASIC PRINCIPLES AND METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF TEXTS;
-KNOW ABOUT THE ORIGIN, EVOLUTION AND STRUCTURE OF THE FOUNDATIONS OF FRENCH LANGUAGE AS WELL AS ITS LINGUISTIC VARIETIES SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD;
-LEARN THE REFERENCE PHONETIC NORMS OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AT THE TWENTIETH CENTURY AND AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-SPEAK CORRECTLY AND FLUENTLY IN FRENCH ON TOPICS OF LEISURE AND WORK: (BASIC PERSONAL AND FAMILY INFORMATION, SHOPPING, TRAVELING, LOCAL GEOGRAPHY, EMPLOYMENT, HOBBIES, LINGUISTIC AND METALINGUISTIC REFERENCES, LINGUISTIC VARIETIES (PHONETIC AND PHONOLOGICAL) OF FRENCH (CECR A2 LEVEL);
-TRANSLATE SHORT TEXTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS (NEWSPAPER, ADVERTISING AND TOURISM) FROM FRENCH INTO ITALIAN;
-ANALYSE SIMPLIFIED TEXTS OF FRENCH CULTURE AND LINGUISTICS;
-ELABORATE, IN SHORT COMPOSITIONS, THE TEXTS OF THE BASIC COURSE.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-CARRY OUT A CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THE FEATURES OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE;
-DEVELOP SUITABLE STRATEGIES TO MANAGE THE FOUR LANGUAGE SKILLS (LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING AND WRITING)
-EVALUATE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEXTS PRESENTED;
-DISCERN THE TYPES OF STRUCTURES, SETTINGS AND CONTENTS, TEXTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS: NEWSPAPERS, ONLINE ARTICLES, VIDEO SUBTITLES, SIMPLE SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES, YOUTUBE, WEBSITES IN ORDER TO SELECT TOPICS AND TEXTS OF DIFFERENT NATURE FOR THE DRAFTING OF A WRITTEN COMPOSITION (ONLY FOR FRENCH LANGUAGE I STUDENTS)

-USE THE BASIC TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS AND SOME IT RESOURCES FOR ANALYSIS AND ARCHIVING;

THE COURSE PROPOSES BOTH A THEORICAL AND AN ACTIVE APPROACH WHICH OFFERS THE SKILL TO COMMUNICATE IN DAILY CONTEXTS: READING, UNDERSTANDING, SUMMARIZING SHORT TEXTS. THE TOOLS OFFERED WILL AIM TO DEVELOP THE SKILL TO ADAPT ONESELF TO SEVERAL COMMUNICATIVE SITUATIONS, BOTH ORAL AND WRITTEN, AND TO TRANSFER EACH STUDENT DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF FRENCH CULTURE. GRAMMAR SKILLS AND DICTIONARY STUDY WILL BE PROPOSED FOR THE REFLECTION ON THE LANGUAGE, TO APPLICATE THE NOTIONS LEARNT. THE COURSE INCLUDES 45 HOURS OF FACE-TO-FACE AND INTERACTIVE LESSONS + 88 HOURS OF LANGUAGE TRANING WITH THE COLLABORATOR AND LINGUISTIC EXPERT.
Verification of learning
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, ONLY STUDENTS OF LINGUA FRANCESE I (BOTH THOSE WHO HAVE ATTENDED AND NOT ATTENDED THE COURSE) SHALL PASS A WRITTEN TEST WHICH IS COMPULSORY BEFORE THE ORAL EXAM.
FINAL WRITTEN EXAM WILL LAST 3 HOURS AND WILL BE ABOUT THE SUBJECTS LEARNT DURING THE COURSE BASED ON THE TEXTS PROPOSED FOR THIS EXAM. THE WRITTEN TEST (ONLY FOR STUDENTS OF LINGUA FRANCESE I) CONSISTS OF A:
-DICTATION TESTING PHONETIC, PHONOLOGICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGES OF FRENCH LANGUAGE;
-STRUCTURAL SKILLS ACTIVITY TESTING MORPHOLOGICAL AND LEXICAL KNOWLEDGES ACQUIRED;
-SHORT COMPOSITION IN FRENCH.
THE FINAL MARK WILL BE THE AVERAGE OF THE MARKS IN EACH OF THE THREE WRITTEN TESTS.
