Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE IN-DEPTH STUDY OF LITERARY CRITICISM METHODOLOGIES APPLIED TO LATIN AMERICAN LITERATURE AND CULTURAL PRODUCTS, IN A CONTEXT THAT PARTLY REFLECTS THE EUROPEAN CANONS AND PARTLY DEPARTS FROM THEM, THROUGH THE COMPARISON BETWEEN LITERARY, METALITERARY AND PARA-LITERARY TEXTS OF THAT GEOGRAPHICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXT.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW IN DEPTH:
-THE CULTURE AND LITERATURE OF LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES;
-ANALYTICAL TOOLS RELATING TO THE LATIN AMERICAN WORLD AND LITERATURE AND TO THE AUTHORS AND TEXTS THAT REPORT THE 'DIVERSITY' OF THE CONTEXTS OF THE HISPANO-AMERICAN TERRITORY, COMPARED TO EUROPEAN CULTURE. THIS DIVERSITY IS ALSO EXPRESSED THROUGH REGIONAL MICRO-LANGUAGES, WHOSE DEVIATIONS FROM STANDARD SPANISH WILL BE EXAMINED;
-THE METHODOLOGIES OF ANALYSIS OF LITERARY TEXTS, ALSO THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE CRITICAL-SCIENTIFIC DEBATE IN THE LITERARY AND CULTURAL FIELD

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-INDEPENDENTLY SELECT AND / OR DEVELOP CRITICAL CRITERIA, TOOLS AND METHODOLOGIES APPROPRIATE TO THE SPECIFIC TEXTUAL TYPOLOGIES OF THE DISCIPLINE
-TO CRITICALLY LINK THE LITERARY TEXT TO THE CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC CONTEXT FROM WHICH IT STEMS.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-FORMULATE AUTONOMOUS JUDGMENTS AND POINTS OF VIEW ON ISSUES RELATING TO LATIN AMERICAN LITERATURES AND 'LANGUAGES', BOTH BY IDENTIFYING THE INTERNAL DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT STATES AND, AS WELL, IN RELATION TO CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN LITERATURES AND CULTURES

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-COMMUNICATE, ALSO IN SPANISH, AT AN ADVANCED LEVEL EFFECTIVELY AND WITH AN APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, INFORMATION, IDEAS, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS IN THE SPECIFIC DISCIPLINARY FIELD;
-ADEQUATELY DISCUSS THE CULTURAL CONTENTS OF THE DISCIPLINE THROUGH THE USE OF TERMINOLOGIES AND REGISTERS APPROPRIATE TO A WIDE RANGE OF COMMUNICATIVE AND EXPRESSIVE SITUATIONS,
-DEVELOP DETAILED CRITICAL ANALYSES RELEVANT TO THE TOPICS ADDRESSED

LEARNING SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-DEVELOP THEIR APTITUDE FOR THE CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF LITERARY TEXTS, ALSO HIGHLIGHTING THEIR REGIONAL LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY,
-PROCEED WITH THE CONTINUOUS UPDATING OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE;
-DEVELOP APTITUDE FOR RESEARCH IN SPECIFIC AREAS OF EXPERTISE.
Prerequisites
THE COURSE IS RECOMMENDED TO THOSE WHO HAVE A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF HISPANO-AMERICAN LANGUE AND LITERATURE BECAUSE IT TAKES PLACE IN PART IN LANGUAGE AND IS A STUDY ON SOME SPECIFIC ISSUES; THE STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY EXAM IN HISPANIC-AMERICAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURES IN THE THREE-YEAR DEGREE COURSE, TAKE CONTACT PREVENTIVELY WITH THE TEACHER.

THE COURSES COMPRISES 30 HOURS (6 CREDITS) OF FORMAL LESSONS, INTEGRATED WITH CONFERENCES, SEMINARS ETC. COURSE IS HELD DURING THE FIRST TERM.
Verification of learning
FINAL ORAL EXAM. FOR ATTENDING STUDENTS, THE PRODUCTION OF A DISSERTATION ON A TOPIC MUTUALLY AGREED UPON DURING THE COURSE, WHICH WILL CONSTITUTE THE BASIS OF THE FINAL ORAL EXAM.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
ABILITY TO EXPRESS ONESELF CLEARLY AND WITH APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE IN A COHERENT WHOLE, BOTH CHRONOLOGICALLY AND SPATIALLY. ABILITY TO SUMMARISE, COMMENT ON AND ANALYSE THOSE LITERARY WORKS INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAMME

THOSE WHO HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY EXAM IN LATIN-AMERICAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE AND ARE NOT ABLE TO READ TEXTS IN SPANISH LANGUAGE, ARE INVITED TO TAKE CONTACT WITH THE TEACHER.
