The Department of Political and Social Studies is highly internationally oriented. In this respect, the DiSPS maintains forms of international collaboration with several foreign institutions, engaging both students and teachers in study and research activities. Specifically, students can spend a study and/or a traineeship period abroad in the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.

The Department of Political and Social Studies (diSPS) has set out in four key words and a precise claim the points that define the essence of diSPS.

IDENTITY. The concept of identity is the pivot around which the diSPS revolves, a Department that - while respecting the various souls that compose it - combines within it heterogeneous and distinct but, at the same time, closely interconnected knowledge. A strong identity, built from a precise set of values that rests on a solid human, social and scientific capital whose efforts are directed towards the realisation of a cultural project that aims at excellence.

KNOWLEDGE. We like to think of diSPS as a set of resources, energies, knowledge and professional skills as indispensable members of a single body which, following a multidisciplinary vocation, and in a synergic and integrated manner, is defined through six macro-areas Sociological Sciences; Political Sciences; Economic Sciences; Historical Sciences; Legal Sciences; Linguistic Sciences. Each macro-area is essential to the planning of the entire organisation. Hence the characterisation of a rich and 'transversal' didactic offer that includes two Bachelor's degree courses, three Master's degree courses, a PhD course and two Master's courses that incorporate the teachings belonging to the Department's founding scientific-disciplinary sectors.

RELATIONSHIPS/SYNERGIES. For us, inter-departmental and extra-departmental relations and synergies are fundamental for the development of a common feeling that is based on the desire for continuous cultural improvement and individual and collective growth. For this reason, the diSPS aims to build and cultivate a relational network among the members of the department itself, in a constant dialogue with public and private, national and international entities, including institutions, companies, associations and research centres, capable of enriching and perfecting the activities carried out.

MISSION. Setting oneself goals is fundamental in order to aim for excellence. Ours are undoubtedly the development of the departmental structure and the strengthening of the main pillars of university life, Teaching, Research and Third Mission, as a set of activities that are not unrelated but functional to each other. We intend to implement programmes that can train our students in the best possible way, taking into account their needs and the challenges of the world of work; to experiment with innovative research methods and techniques; and to promote the valorisation of internal resources, all with the awareness that philosophical, religious, literary, artistic, scientific and social science culture is essential to the education of citizens.
