Physics

Research Physics

The section's activity is interdisciplinary and focuses on the study, measurement, and development of physical models characterized by nonlinear and collective dynamics, encompassing both natural and biological systems. The activities range from basic research to its applications in various fields, such as advanced environmental sensing, volcanic seismology, environmental radioactivity, oceanography, nuclear physics, the physics of musical instruments and speech, and biological dosimetry.

Research topics

  • Characterization of the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere coupling during seismic phenomena
  • Volcanico seismology
  • Signal processing
  • Physical models of complex systems
  • Environmental radioactivity
  • Biological dosimetry
  • Innovative radiation technologies applied to environmental monitoring and conservation of cultural heritage
