Research Complementary Mathematics
Reasearch topics
The subjects treated by the Research Group of Complementary Mathematics concern mathematical education, history and foundations of mathematics. Particularly, the interest is focused on the role played by laboratory-museum and by mathematical logic within the mathematical education. Historical researches are essentially devoted to reconstruct the development of algebra and the Euclidean tradition during the Renaissance. Concerning foundations of mathematics, the goal of the research is to investigate the possibility of constructing the geometry taking as primitive the notion of a region instead of the notion of point and straight line.
