RAYLEIGH WAVES AND POROACOUSTIC ACCELERATION WAVES

We plan to study of the propagation of Rayleigh waves in various types of anisotropic and/or strongly elliptic materials by means of the Stroh formulation. The Stroh formulation is a mean to compactly investigate anisotropic elasticity that showed to be useful also for the analysis of Rayleigh Waves. Our interest is related with the connection between this aforementioned propagation of Rayleigh waves and the heat conduction according to different hyperbolic theories. The hyperbolic theories that will be taken into account start with the classical theory of Cattaneo and proceed with the theory of Lord-Shulman, the theory of Green-Lindsay and the different theories of Green-Naghdi. Also the theory of dual-phase lag, by Tzou will be considered. The types of material that we would to take into account are nonsimple materials and materials with microstructure. In particular, the types of material that will be considered are micropolar, microstretch, porous and double porosity materials. In addition, we will study the propagation of acceleration and travelling waves in a porous medium in the acoustic case, i.e. in the case the motion is irrotational.
