Research Territorial Organization and Planning

The research area focuses scientific activity in the fields and domains of study that concern skills related to the modeling of economic and human activities in their relationship with “places” and the ways in which, in their own transformations, they are integrated, constituting complex and territorially relevant units: from the analysis of forms of territorial organization to the study of political-administrative arrangements. The researches have theoretical and applicative values, functional to the planning and programming of sustainable development, in an interdisciplinary dimension regarding resource management, space utilization, location of activities, innovation processes, with reference to different geographical scales and the plurality of geopolitical scenarios.

Teaching Activity

The preliminary objective of the teaching activity is to present students with the concepts essential for understanding current geoeconomic and geopolitical dynamics. With an interdisciplinary vision, it aims to develop skills for planning sustainable development for the competitiveness of territories. Given the progressive emergence of new network paradigms and the critical organizational issues of complex systems, special attention is paid to the complementarity of planning, economic and management aspects of the innovative knowledge asset.
