Third Mission | Overview

The University of Salerno, while primarily interested in teaching and research, also has another objective, i.e. ‘The Third Mission.’ This mission involves all activities connected to technology transfer, that is highlighting and assessing university research as well as promoting collaboration with local businesses.

All matters connected to university technology transfer are linked to financing for training, those which give support and help to scientific departments to coordinate their research - in particular at a European and International level - and those which promote initiatives to increase research funding from abroad.

Consequently, relationships with local companies, other universities and research facilities outside of university are of the utmost importance, especially those operating in the field of assessment and transfer.

As a recognized centre of intellectual and technical excellence in the field of research, the University of Salerno is in a position to offer administrative and legal advice regarding projects dealing with technology transfer, to manage patent portfolios as well as investigating new openings for fund raising to support and encourage the development of new patents and the industrial development of new technologies.
