Mission

The Musimatica (Computer Music) Lab is a research lab focusing on topics that straddle music and computer science.

One of the main research topics is automatic composition of music of various genres. As an example, one of the research project has resulted in a genetic algorithm capable of composing chorale (4-part) music. As another example, a research project has focused on the development of a music teaching tool for blind people.

In 2012 the Italian music magazine "Strumenti Musicali" has published an article about the lab and its projects (June 2012, pag.72-73).

Thesis

About 40 undergraduate thesis have been developed in the lab, resulting in research papers and software development.
