Activities

The Power Electronic Circuits Laboratory conducts theoretical and experimental research aimed at developing:

- characterization techniques and models of discrete and integrated power electronic devices,

- methods for the characterization of nonlinear magnetic power components,

- criteria, models and methods for the design of power circuits with partially saturated inductors,

- models and methods for the design of power electronic circuits with high energy efficiency and power density,

- models and methods for the design of power electronic systems for wireless charging of electric vehicles and aircraft,

- electronic systems for photocatalysis.

Over the last two decades, the Power Electronic Circuits Laboratory has hosted graduates, scholarship holders, PhD students, research fellows, researchers and professors engaged in research activities carried out within applied industrial research projects, carried out in collaboration with national and international industries in the power electronics sector, and scientific projects of national and European importance, carried out in collaboration with national and international universities and research institutes.

The laboratory is equipped with high-quality laboratory equipment for the experimental characterization of power electronic components and circuits. The Laboratory is also equipped with two prototypes of wireless charging systems and a prototype of a photocatalytic purification system, created within regional and national projects.

Teaching

The laboratory has hosted over the last two decades students of the degree courses in computer engineering and electronic engineering and graduates of both branches for laboratory exercises, degree theses, scholarships, research grants and doctoral theses on topics related to modeling methodologies, analysis, experimental characterization and synthesis of power electronic devices and circuits, conversion systems for photovoltaic applications, LED lighting, wireless power and ICT, analog and digital control techniques of conversion systems for applications in the computer, automotive, aerospace and chemical fields.
