Educational Activities
The FARMABIOLAB 3 laboratory is dedicated to practical exercises related to the teachings in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Technology offered by the various degree programs of the Department of Pharmacy, aiming to develop students' practical skills.

The laboratory is designed to support educational activities in three main areas:

Pharmaceutical Technology Laboratory

• Preparation and quality control of solid oral dosage forms: POWDERS, PAPER DOSES, CAPSULES
• Preparation and quality control of liquid oral dosage forms for human and animal use: SOLUTIONS, SYRUPS, ORAL EMULSIONS, ELIXIRS
• Preparation and quality control of dermatological formulations: HYDROGELS, LIPOGELS, OINTMENTS, PASTES, CREAMS
• Preparation and quality control of suppositories: SUPPOSITORIES AND VAGINAL OVULES
• Preparation and quality control of eye drops

Herbal Laboratory

• Pulverization, dimensional analysis, and classification of powdered herbal drugs
• Preparation and quality control of liquid, semi-solid, and solid pharmaceutical forms derived from plant extracts or other plant-based substances

Cosmetic Products Laboratory

• Production and quality control of single-phase cosmetic formulations: LOTION, TONERS, SHAMPOOS, BODY WASHES, AND GELS
• Production and quality control of biphasic cosmetic formulations: O/W EMULSIONS, W/O EMULSIONS, W/S EMULSIONS, ANTI-AGING PRODUCTS, SUNSCREENS
• Efficacy evaluation of cosmetic formulations

Equipment
FARMABIOLAB 3 is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments to provide an advanced training experience. The equipment includes:

• 1 Biological safety cabinet with HEPA filter for sterile preparations
• 1 Chemical hood with extraction system
• 2 Optical microscopes
• 1 Benchtop cutometer for evaluating skin elasticity, hydration, pH, and blemishes
• 1 Benchtop turbo-emulsifier for biphasic cosmetic preparations
• 4 Hot plates with integrated magnetic stirrers for liquid heating/mixing operations
• 10 Manual capsule fillers for preparing rigid capsules, size 0
• 1 Benchtop vibrating sieve for separating and selecting powders
• 1 Mill suitable for solid and fibrous materials
• 1 Powder mixer
• 1 Centrifuge for test tubes
• 1 Benchtop pH meter
• 1 Dissolution tester
• Vertical Franz diffusion cells
• Molds for suppositories and vaginal ovules
• Plates for semi-solid preparations (ointments, pastes)

Additionally, 4 cabinets are available for storing paper, gloves, cosmetic raw materials, pharmaceutical excipients, and laboratory glassware.
