All qualifications issued by foreign institutions must be accompanied by a legal translation into Italian: translations are the candidates' responsibility; they may request them from the local Court (Tribunale) or from official translators.
Translations carried out by local translators must be validated by the competent Italian diplomatic authorities.
Documents handed together with qualifications (such as syllabuses of examinations) can be without translation for the following languages: English, French, Spanish and German.

Non-EU students resident abroad, EU students wherever resident and non-EU students resident in Italy (art. 39, 5° comma Decreto Legislativo 286/1998) must pay the Regional fee (€ 140) and the enrolment fees foreseen for Band 3, if they do not belong to those Countries included in Table 1.
Table 1 includes a "List of Less Developed Countries" whose citizens are automatically placed in Band 1.
Foreign students from countries not included in Table 1, can apply by 30th September to be placed in Band 1, by producing documents certifying a low-income family (large family or lack of a parent). All documents must be accompanied by a translation into Italian certified by the diplomatic authorities. These applications will be examined by an ad hoc Committee.
If student family during the previous year had achieved income in Italy, it is necessary to define fee band according to what has been established in the "Guida al pagamento delle tasse" at the paragraph "Come determinare la fascia di contribuzione".
In the case of dual citizenship, Italian citizenship will prevail (Legge 31 maggio 1995, n. 218 di riforma del sistema italiano di diritto internazionale privato).
For those students who have been declared stateless or refugees by the competent authorities, the same conditions as for Italian citizens are applied.
Foreign and Italian students having a foreign secondary school diploma pay a reduced fee for the third installment fee (€ 53,00) during their first year.
For students enrolled in the following years the same conditions of merit as those concerning Italian students are applied.
Students holding a foreign academic qualification and obtaining its total recognition and the attribution of an equivalent academic qualification issued by the University of Salerno, must pay a fixed contribution of € 250,00.
