Objectives
** KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
STUDENTS WILL OBTAIN A SET OF BASIC ANALYTICAL TOOLS TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF INTEGRATION OF EUROPEAN UNION AND EUROPEAN MONETARY UNION, OF THEIR INSTITUTIONS, OF THEIR ACTIVITIES AND OF THE ECONOMIC SECTORS CONCERNED.

** APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THROUGH FRONTAL TEACHING AND CLASSES, STUDENTS WILL GRADUALLY BE PROVIDED WITH THE NOTIONS NECESSARY TO INTERPRET THE CURRENT SITUATION AND THE FUTURE PROSPECTS OF EUROPEAN UNION AND EUROPEAN MONETARY UNION.

** COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
SELECTIVE EVALUATION OF INFORMATION ON EUROPEAN INTEGRATION TOPICS. ORGANISATION, IN WRITTEN AND ORAL FORM, OF ANALYSES RELATING TO THE ECONOMY AND THE ECONOMIC POLICY OF EUROPEAN UNION AND EUROPEAN MONETARY UNION.
Prerequisites
ADEQUATE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF MICROECONOMICS, MACROECONOMICS AND ECONOMIC POLICY.

THE EXCLUSIVE COMPETENCES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION: INTERNATIONAL TRADE (CHS 4-5, 12 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), MARKETS AND COMPETITION (CHS 6, 11 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022).

THE CONSEQUENCES OF EUROPEAN INTEGRATION: GROWTH (CH. 7 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), THE LABOUR MARKET (CH. 8 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022).

THE BIG POLICIES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION: THE COMMON AGRICULTURAL POLICY (CH. 9 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), THE REGIONAL POLICY (CH. 10 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022).

THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE EUROZONE: OPTIMUM CURRENCY AREAS (CHS. 13-14 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), THE EUROPEAN MONETARY UNION (CH. 15 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), FISCAL POLICY (CH. 16 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022), THE THREE CRISES OF THE EUROZONE (CH. 18 FROM BALDWIN & WYPLOSZ, 2022).
Teaching Methods
FRONTAL TEACHING, INTERACTIVE TUTORIALS.
Verification of learning
LEARNING IS ASSESSED BY WRITTEN AND ORAL TESTS. MARKING FOLLOWS THE TRADITIONAL ITALIAN SCALE.
THE WRITTEN TEST IS STRUCTURED INTO TWO PARTS.
THE FIRST PART CONSISTS IN THREE OPEN-RESPONSE QUESTIONS, THE MAXIMUM OVERALL SCORE OF WHICH IS EQUAL TO FIFTEEN POINTS. THE SECOND PART IS STRUCTURED INTO FOUR TRUE-FALSE RESPONSE QUESTIONS, THE MAXIMUM OVERALL SCORE OF WHICH IS EQUAL TO TWELVE POINTS.
DURING THE WRITTEN TEST ONE CANNOT CONSULT TEXTS, USE PCS AND MOBILE PHONES.
AT THE TIME OF THE WRITTEN TEST, STUDENTS MUST DELIVER AN INDIVIDUAL REPORT (ASSIGNMENT) - WORTH AT MOST THREE POINTS - ON A TOPIC CHOSEN AMONG THOSE INDICATED IN THE COURSE WEB-PAGE.THIS REPORT WILL BE DISCUSSED AND ASSESSED AT THE ORAL TEST.
DURING THE WRITTEN TEST ONE CANNOT CONSULT TEXTS, USE PCS AND MOBILE PHONES.
THE DURATION OF THE WRITTEN TEST IS 90 MINUTES; THE ORAL TEST LASTS NO MORE THAN 20 MINUTES.
