THE COURSE PROVIDES BASIC AND ADVANCED TOPICS FOR THE DESIGN OF USER-CENTERED SOFTWARE SYSTEMS DEFINED ON THE PRINCIPLES AND MODELS OF SITUATION AWARENESS AND THEIR APPLICATION IN COMPLEX DOMAINS, IN PARTICULAR WITH REFERENCE TO THE CYBER SECURITY AND CYBER DEFENSE DOMAINS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AT THE END OF THE STUDY PATH, THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE SPECIFIC PROBLEMS OF SYSTEMS BASED ON SITUATION AWARENESS, THE FEATURES OF THE CORRESPONDING SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURES, AND THEIR FUNCTIONALITY IN VARIOUS APPLICATION DOMAINS. STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WELL-KNOWN SA MODELS IN THE LITERATURE (E.G., ENDSLEY), THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN TECHNIQUES (E.G., GOAL-DIRECTED TASK ANALYSIS), AND THE COMPUTATIONAL METHODS SUITABLE TO SUPPORT SITUATION AWARENESS IN HUMAN-MACHINE SYSTEMS. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ANALYSIS, DEFINITION, DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF SOFTWARE SYSTEMS, ACCORDING TO THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE SITUATION AWARENESS AND HUMAN FACTORS, USING A USER-CENTERED DESIGN METHODOLOGY, IN SEVERAL APPLICATION DOMAINS, INCLUDING IN PARTICULAR CYBER SECURITY AND CYBER DEFENSE. ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE MOST SUITABLE STRATEGIES FOR THE DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF SYSTEMS BASED ON THE MODELS AND METHODOLOGIES OF SITUATION AWARENESS, USING ADEQUATE COMPUTATIONAL METHODS FOR THE PERCEPTION, COMPREHENSION AND PROJECTION OF SITUATIONS. |
Prerequisites | |

LE ATTIVITÀ DI INSEGNAMENTO SARANNO COMPOSTE DA LEZIONI TEORICHE FRONTALI (32 ORE), CON L'AUSILIO DI MATERIALE MULTIMEDIALE, ED ESERCITAZIONI SU CASI DI STUDIO REALI (16 ORE). INOLTRE SI PREVEDE L'ASSEGNAZIONE DI ESERCIZI A GRUPPI DI STUDENTI E SUCCESSIVE VERIFICHE COLLETTIVE RELATIVE AGLI ESERCIZI ASSEGNATI. DURANTE LE ESERCITAZIONI DI GRUPPO AGLI STUDENTI SARA' RICHIESTO DI APPLICARE LE METODOLOGIE E LE TECNICHE DI ANALISI E PROGETTAZIONE PRESENTATE DURANTE LE LEZIONI TEORICHE A PROBLEMATICHE REALI RELATIVE ALLA SITUATION AWARENESS IN DOMINI APPLICATIVI DIFFERENTI, IN PARTICOLARE NEL DOMINIO DELLA CYBER SECURITY E CYBER DEFENSE. |

THE LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH AN ASSESSMENT IN THIRTIETHS. THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL INTERVIEW REGARDING ALL THE COURSE TOPICS. DURING THE ORAL INTERVIEW, MOREOVER, THE STUDENT WILL PRESENT AND DISCUSS THE GROUP EXERCISES COMPLETED DURING THE COURSE. THE EVALUATION WILL CONSIDER IN PARTICULAR THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: KNOWLEDGE OF THE MODELS, THE PROCESSES, AND THE COGNITIVE MECHANISMS OF SA; KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODOLOGIES FOR THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF A SITUATION AWARENESS SUPPORT SYSTEM; KNIOWLEDGE OF THE PROCESSES, ROLES, PRINCIPLES AND CHALLENGES RELATED TO CYBER SITUATION AWARENESS; KNOWLEDGE OF THE COMPUTATIONAL TECHNIQUES SUPPORTING SA PRESENTED IN THE COURSE; ABILITY TO ANALYZE, DESIGN, DEVELOP AND EVALUATE A SIMPLE USER-CENTERED SYSTEM TO SUPPORT SITUATION AWARENESS USING THE METHODOLOGIES AND THE TECHNIQUES PRESENTED IN THE COURSE. THE CUM LAUDE MAY BE ATTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS WHO PROVE THAT THEY HAVE EXCELLENT MASTERY OF THE COURSE CONTENT AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE FOR THE RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS RELATED TO SA ALSO IN DOMAINS NOT ANALYZED IN THE COURSE. |
