Objectives | |
---|---|
The course aims to provide students with B1/B2 level linguistic-communicative skills of the European framework of reference for languages designed by the council of Europe and to encourage their critical thinking. The course aims to provide students with the tools of pragmatics, sociolinguistics and discourse analysis for a critical approach to language, issues and specialized texts with particular reference to geopolitical language. Understand and produce didactic, semi- specialized and specialized texts on English language and linguistics. |

Contents | |

The course involves critical analysis and comprehension of texts relating to geopolitics and security of the Mediterranean and the United Kingdom. Special attention will be given to linguistics, which will enable students to acquire a specialized linguistic and cultural background and the production of written and oral texts. |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
The course consists of 42 hours of lectures, which will enable students to understand and use elements of specialized terminology related to geopolitics. The course also includes speaking, writing and reading and comprehension. Class attendance is not compulsory but is strongly recommended. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
The examination consists of a written test and an oral test. The written test, lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, will involve reading comprehension and production of texts related to geopolitics and security of the Mediterranean and the United Kingdom. The oral examination, lasting approximately 30 minutes, will test oral language proficiency and involve discussions on topics covered in class and in the reference texts. The assessment of the examination will also take into account the student's mastery of the content and skills acquired. To be admitted to the oral exam it is necessary to obtain at least 6 points out of 10 in the written test. The final mark is expressed in thirtieths. |
