12300FINAL EXAM
Objectives
1. After passing all the exams of the subjects included in the study plan and having acquired the related credits, the student, regardless of the number of years of enrollment at the university, is admitted to take the final exam, to which the CFUs provided for in the study plan are assigned.
2. The final exam consists of the drafting and discussion of an original thesis of a theoretical/experimental nature, developed within the themes of the Degree course, and drafted under the guidance of a supervisor, Professor or Researcher with a tenured position, whose teaching discipline is included in the Study Plan. A second supervisor and/or co-supervisor is admitted, the latter also not directly involved in the teaching activities of the Degree Course. The thesis can also be developed within the scope of the exercises, laboratory activities and those carried out for internships.
The discussion consists of the presentation in a public session before the commission referred to in paragraph 3 of this article. The writing of the thesis and the discussion are carried out in accordance with the instructions available on the web page of the course of study, section Teaching/Final Exam.
3. The committees for the final exams are appointed by the Director of the Department or by a person designated by him, and are normally composed, as established by the General Regulations of the University for Teaching, of 11 effective members including the president and in any case no less than five.
4. The evaluation of the final exam is carried out by assigning a grade that contributes to the final grade of the Master's Degree out of one hundred and ten. The evaluation takes into account the content of the thesis, its presentation, and any other element deemed relevant. The minimum final grade is sixty-six one hundred and ten. The carrying out of the final exam and the proclamation of the final result are public.
5. The Master's Degree thesis is presented to the committee referred to in paragraph 3 on the occasion of the carrying out of the final exam.
The final exam is assigned a grade (VOTO_PF) to be added to the basic grade (VOTO_BASE) to determine the final grade of the Master's Degree: VOTO_LAUREA_MAGISTRALE=VOTO_BASE+VOTO_PF. The VOTO_BASE value is the average of the grades obtained in the profit exams, weighted on the credits, multiplied by 11/3.
The VOTO_PF grade is not higher than 4/110, or 5/110 if obtained in 3 years, or 6/110 if the candidate obtains the title in two academic years. Honors may be awarded only if all of the following conditions are met: the basic grade added to the final exam grade and any rounding equals or exceeds 110/110, there is at least one exam with Honors in the curriculum, a motivated and detailed request for Honors is formulated by the supervisor(s) using the grade proposal tools, the qualification is obtained within the 4th academic year of enrollment, the commission is unanimously in favor.
Educational activities carried out abroad during the nominal duration of the Master's Degree Course and recognized by the Teaching Council with a number of curricular credits equal to NCFU are evaluated for the purposes of assigning the Master's degree grade: the basic grade may be increased by a score equal to NCFU/12 for a total not exceeding 2 points. Rounding to the next integer number is to be applied only to the final Master's degree grade if the first decimal value is greater than or equal to 5.
