KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH METHODOLOGICAL AND QUANTITATIVE KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE MANAGEMENT OF SUPPLY CHAIN PROCESSES AND THE EFFICIENT DESIGN OF SUPPLY CHAINS. STUDENTS WILL BE TRAINED IN THE DESIGN OF SMART AND SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAINS, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE IMPLICATIONS RESULTING FROM THE ADOPTION OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES, IDENTIFYING IMPACTS, BENEFITS, AND IMPLEMENTATION CHALLENGES. ------------------------------------------------- APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AT THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO HAVE ACQUIRED THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO DESIGN, ANALYZE, MANAGE, AND MONITOR TECHNICAL, RELATIONAL, ECONOMIC, AND FINANCIAL ASPECTS WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO ASSESS THE USE OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES IN SUPPORT OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PROCESSES. STUDENTS WILL BE CAPABLE OF USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO MANAGE THE SUPPLY CHAIN, SPECIFICALLY TO PERFORM DATA ANALYSIS, IMPLEMENT CALCULATION MODELS/SIMULATIONS, AND DESIGN OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES AND METHODOLOGIES. ------------------------------------------------- MAKING JUDGMENTS STUDENTS WILL WORK ON REAL APPLICATIONS FOR SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, BOTH IN GROUPS AND ALONE. SUCH EXPERIENCES WILL MAKE THEM DEVELOP CAPABILITY OF ANALYSIS AND OF MAKING AUTONOMOUS JUDGMENTS. ------------------------------------------------- COMMUNICATION SKILLS STUDENTS HAVE TO PRESENT THE RESULTS OF THEIR PROJECTS TO THE CLASSROOM WITHIN AN ASSIGNED TIMING, IMPROVING THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS. MOREOVER, STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE TECHNICAL LANGUAGE OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, AS WELL AS TECHNICAL LANGUAGE CONCERNING EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES SUPPORTING SUCH PROCESSES. ------------------------------------------------- LEARNING SKILLS AT THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH VARIABLES AND METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS NECESSARY TO MANAGE SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT PROCESSES AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES SUPPORTING THEM. THANKS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH HIGHER-LEVEL STUDIES AND, BY VIRTUE OF THE MANY APPLICATIONS OF REAL-LIFE STUDIES, WILL BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH THE WORK WORLD WITH COMPETENCE. |

IN PARTICULAR, THE FOLLOWING THEMATIC AREAS WILL BE COVERED: -INTRODUCTION TO SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT -INFORMATION FLOW MANAGEMENT -MAIN OPERATIONAL PROCESSES -SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN AND PLANNING -SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS AND PERFORMANCE -EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE SUPPLY CHAIN 1. THE THEORETICAL CONTENT IS STRUCTURED INTO 30 HOURS OF LECTURES. IN DETAIL: -INTRODUCTION TO SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT: ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF THE CONCEPT OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT – SUPPLY CHAIN ACTORS -INFORMATION FLOW MANAGEMENT: THE ROLE OF INFORMATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN, DATA MANAGEMENT AND PHASES, MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE, BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING, SUPPLY CHAIN DIGITALIZATION -MAIN OPERATIONAL PROCESSES: CUSTOMER SERVICE, TRANSPORT, COURIERS, WAREHOUSES, PROCUREMENT -SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN AND PLANNING: MANAGEMENT OF BUYER-SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS, OUTSOURCING STRATEGIES, SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGY, SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN, PROCESS INTEGRATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN, COLLABORATION AND COOPERATION IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN, INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, SUPPLY CHAIN FINANCE, DEMAND PLANNING IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN, SUSTAINABILITY POLICIES -SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS AND PERFORMANCE: PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT AND METRICS, BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE, TYPES OF ANALYSIS, SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS, DASHBOARDS AND DATA VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUES, REAL-TIME AND BIG DATA ANALYTICS -EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE SUPPLY CHAIN: 3D PRINTING, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, BLOCKCHAIN, COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES, GEO-SPATIAL TECHNOLOGY, IMMERSIVE ENVIRONMENTS (AUGMENTED REALITY, VIRTUAL REALITY, DIGITAL TWIN, METAVERSE), INTERNET OF THINGS, DIGITAL APPLICATIONS, OPEN AND CROWD-BASED PLATFORMS, PROXIMITY TECHNOLOGIES, ROBOTS, DRONES EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES PLAY A CENTRAL ROLE IN THIS COURSE, AS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT INNOVATIVE PRACTICES THAT UTILIZE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN, REPLACING TRADITIONAL APPROACHES. 2. FURTHERMORE, A COMMON ELEMENT WILL BE THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, WHICH WILL BE INTRODUCED AS A PRACTICAL TOOL THROUGH A MODULE COVERING THE FOLLOWING TOPICS (15 HOURS): -INTRODUCTION TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE – LOGICAL DESIGN OF AN OPERATIONAL PROCESS (PROBLEM -> DATA -> TRAINING -> UTILIZATION) -DATA SCIENCE WITH AI: TRAINING AND VALIDATION – ALGORITHM BIAS - TYPES OF ALGORITHMS (REGRESSION, CLASSIFICATION, CLUSTERING, ANOMALY DETECTION, DIMENSIONALITY REDUCTION, ASSOCIATION RULES AND REINFORCEMENT LEARNING) - DATA PREPROCESSING AND EXPLORATORY DATA ANALYSIS - TEXT MINING -FROM TRADITIONAL AI TO LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS: PROMPT ENGINEERING - EVOLUTION OF GENERATIVE AI – ETHICAL ISSUES AND RISKS – MAIN TOOLS AND INSTRUMENTS -DESIGN AND VALIDATION OF A PROCESS THAT USES GENERATIVE AI TO AUTOMATE OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES -DESIGN OF COST/TIME/PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS MODELS, SIMULATION AND SCENARIO PLANNING THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERS WITH A STRATEGIC AND OPERATIONAL VISION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, ENABLING THEM TO MANAGE, DESIGN, ANALYZE, AND AUTOMATE BUSINESS ACTIVITIES. 3.FINALLY, AN ADDITIONAL 15 HOURS OF LECTURES ARE PLANNED TO SUPPORT STUDENTS IN THE DESIGN ACTIVITIES REQUIRED FOR EXAM COMPLETION. |

THE COURSE INCLUDES A TOTAL OF 60 HOURS OF COURSEWORK, DIVIDED INTO 30 HOURS OF LECTURES AND 30 HOURS OF PRACTICAL EXERCISES AIMED AT DEVELOPING OPERATIONAL SKILLS IN THE FIELD OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. SPECIFICALLY, THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE TRAINING ON THE USE OF KEY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TOOLS, AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT TASKS REQUIRED TO PASS THE EXAM, AND, ABOVE ALL, DIRECT SUPPORT PROVIDED BY THE INSTRUCTOR IN THE CLASSROOM DURING PROJECT DEVELOPMENT. DURING THIS PERIOD, STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE SKILLS IN THE APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN TWO KEY AREAS: -CARRYING OUT DATA SCIENCE ACTIVITIES IN BUSINESS CONTEXTS, APPLYING VARIOUS ALGORITHMS AND TOOLS; -DEVELOPING SOFTWARE AND APPLICATIONS CAPABLE OF PERFORMING COST, TIME, AND PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS, AS WELL AS SIMULATIONS AND SCENARIO PLANNING. |

THE EXAM IS STRUCTURED IN TWO TESTS, AIMED AT VERIFYING THE LEARNING OF THE FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS OF THE COURSE: SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN AND PLANNING. SPECIFICALLY, THE ACTIVITIES ENVISAGED ARE AS FOLLOWS: -STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY HAVE DEVELOPED SKILLS IN THE FIELD OF SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYTICS, THROUGH THE USE OF TOOLS BASED ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING. THEY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO A DATABASE OF INNOVATIVE PRACTICES BASED ON THE USE OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN AND, DURING THE EXAM, WILL PRESENT A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION. -STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO IMPLEMENT ANALYSIS MODELS RELATED TO COST, TIME OR PERFORMANCE, AS WELL AS SIMULATIONS OR SCENARIO PLANNING, APPLIED TO INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN BASED ON THE USE OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES. THESE MODELS – DEVELOPED USING GENERATIVE AI – MUST HIGHLIGHT HOW THE RESULTS ACHIEVED CAN EXCEED THOSE OBTAINED THROUGH TRADITIONAL PRACTICES, DEMONSTRATING THE CONCRETE BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION IN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT. DURING THE EXAM, STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT THE SOFTWARE APPLICATION THEY DEVELOPED. THE FINAL EVALUATION WILL BE CALCULATED AS THE ARITHMETIC AVERAGE OF THE SCORES OBTAINED IN THE TWO TESTS. TO PASS THE EXAM, IT IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE A PASSING GRADE IN BOTH. THE GRADE OF 30 WITH HONORS WILL BE AWARDED TO STUDENTS WHO OBTAIN HONORS IN ONE OF THE TWO TESTS AND 30/30 IN THE OTHER. |
