THE COURSE IN ENGLISH AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS FOR AN ADEQUATE READING AND INTERPRETATION OF THE DIFFERENT TRAJECTORIES OF ART CRITICISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO THE THEORIES AND METHODOLOGIES DEVELOPED IN RECENT DECADES IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GLOBAL ART WORLD. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT: -WILL KNOW THE MAIN TRAJECTORIES OF ART CRITICISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY; -WILL UNDERSTAND THE THEORETICAL TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC SYSTEM; -WILL KNOW THE MAIN FIGURES AND MOST SIGNIFICANT METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES THAT CHARACTERIZE THE CONTEMPORARY CRITICAL DEBATE. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE: -TO ACQUIRE A BETTER ABILITY TO ORIENT ONESELF IN THE SPACE OF THE 21ST CENTURY ART CRITICISM; -TO EXAMINE INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO THE ROLE OF CRITICISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY ART SYSTEM; -TO ORGANIZE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THE CONTEXT OF ART CRITICISM. MAKING JUDGEMENTS THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE A THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK THAT WILL ALLOW HIM TO: -EVALUATE AND INTERPRET CULTURAL PHENOMENA INDEPENDENTLY; -FORMULATE PERSONAL DEDUCTIONS IN AWARENESS OF THE COMPLEXITY OF CRITICAL JUDGMENT; -DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND, SELECT AND EVALUATE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES OF CRITICAL DEBATE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE: -TO CORRECTLY EXPLAIN AND ARGUE IN ENGLISH WHAT HAS BEEN LEARNED USING AN APPROPRIATE VOCABULARY; -TO COMMUNICATE HIS KNOWLEDGE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS (BOTH TO AN AUDIENCE OF EXPERTS AND TO NON-SPECIALISTS); - TO EXPRESS ONE’S CRITICAL JUDGMENT WITH SPECIFIC LINGUISTIC AND LEXICAL SKILLS, USING THE MOST APPROPRIATE REGISTER FOR EACH CIRCUMSTANCE. - LEARNING SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: -UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS AND USE BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL; -IDENTIFY AND SELECT SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE USEFUL FOR INCREASING KNOWLEDGE; -TO WILL ACQUIRE THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH ON 21ST CENTURY ART CRITICISM. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN OVERVIEW OF THE MAIN TRAJECTORIES OF ART CRITICISM IN THE 21ST CENTURY. IN PARTICULAR, THROUGH THE READING OF TEXTS BY HANS BELTING AND JAMES ELKINS, THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES THAT HAVE EMERGED IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBAL ART WILL BE ADDRESSED. STARTING FROM THE REFLECTION ON THE CRITICAL DISCOURSES PRODUCED BY THE NEW MAP OF GLOBALIZED ARTS, MARKED BY THE PROBLEMATIC INTERSECTION BETWEEN WORLD ART HISTORY AND GLOBAL ART HISTORY, SOME OF THE MODELS OF WRITING AND THEORETICAL NARRATION OF THE CONTEMPORARY ART SYSTEM WILL BE ANALYSED. |
