| Objectives | |

| The aim of the course is to provide the basic knowledge to read and understand the English language at level B1 of the common European framework of reference (CEFR) so that the student is able to read and understand scientific literature in English, write simple texts and communicate in everyday situations. Upon passing the end-of-course exam, the student will have acquired adequate knowledge and understanding of the foreign language in its linguistic structures, in particular phonetics, morphosyntax and lexicon. The student will be able to recognize and analyze different text types from a linguistic perspective, and in turn process texts with grammatical accuracy, respecting the norms and style of the English language. The student, through the knowledge acquired, will be able to understand and interpret texts in English independently. The student will be able to effectively and correctly convey general data and particular knowledge of their field of study through more or less complex syntactic structures, and will possess adequate skills for communicating concepts and information relating to their field of study in English. The student will be able to acquire the tools to develop a foreign language learning methodology that allows him to expand and update his knowledge independently, also making use of traditional bibliographic tools, specialized texts, IT aids and multimedia material. |
