THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE MAIN PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, LEXICAL AND MORPHOSYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE, AS WELL AS PROVIDING THE NECESSARY TOOLS FOR ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING -KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASIC MORPHOSYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE; -ABILITY TO PRODUCE AND UNDERSTAND BRIEF AND COHERENT TEXTS ON EVERYDAY TOPICS; -ACHIEVEMENT OF FULL A2 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING -ABILITY TO USE THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN A VARIETY OF EVERYDAY COMMON SITUATIONS; -UNDERSTANDING OF BRIEF ORAL AND WRITTEN TEXTS ABOUT EVERYDAY TOPICS; -ABILITY TO TRANSLATE BRIEF TEXTS. MAKING JUDGEMENTS -ABILITY TO REFLECT ON THE BASIC MECHANISMS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE; -ABILITY TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN BOTH COLLOQUIAL AND FORMAL REGISTERS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS -ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE IN STANDARD ENGLISH ON EVERYDAY TOPICS; -UNDERSTANDING THE MAIN POINTS OF ORAL AND WRITTEN MESSAGES; -ABILITY TO HAVE BRIEF CONVERSATIONS ON EVERYDAY TOPICS. LEARNING SKILLS -ABILITY TO USE LANGUAGE LEARNING ONLINE TOOLS (DICTIONARIES, WEB PAGES, …); -ABILITY TO CARRY OUT SIMPLE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES; -ABILITY TO MANAGE THEIR OWN LEARNING INDEPENDENTLY. |

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF LESSONS DURING BOTH SEMESTERS AMING AT PRACTICAL LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES. CONSTANT AND ACTIVE ATTENDANCE TO LECTURES AND PRACTICAL LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED. STUDENTS COULD ALSO HAVE TO DO SOME SELF-STUDY IN THE SELF-ACCESS LAB OF CENTRO LINGUISTICO. |
Verification of learning | |

THE EXAM IS AN ORAL INTERVIEW DURING WHICH THE GRAMMATICAL COMPETENCE COULD BE TESTED THROUGH A WRITTEN TEST. STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO A FINAL WRITTEN TEST WHICH WILL REPLACE THE FINAL EXAM. |
