THE OBJECTIVES OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE LABORATORY CAN BE SUMMARISED AS FOLLOWS - INTEGRATION OF THE LINGUISTIC COMPONENT WITH THE METHODOLOGICAL COMPONENT - PROMOTION OF A VERTICAL CURRICULAR APPROACH WHERE DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES ARE INTEGRATED WITH L2 - DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS USEFUL FOR USING L2 IN THE CLASSROOM, THEREBY COMPENSATING FOR ANY GAPS, STRENGTHENING AND ENHANCING KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE (MORPHOSYNTACTIC, LEXICAL AND PRAGMATIC STRUCTURES) IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS AND SITUATIONS, ESPECIALLY THOSE RELATED TO AREAS OF SPECIFIC INTEREST STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE - A GOOD WRITTEN AND ORAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE, HAVING ACHIEVED A LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE OF AT LEAST LEVEL B1 AS DESCRIBED IN THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE'S COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES. STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO - APPLY THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO THE MAIN FORMAL AND INFORMAL SITUATIONAL CONTEXTS, USING EVEN COMPLEX MORPHOSYNTACTIC STRUCTURES; - WORK BOTH INDEPENDENTLY AND IN GROUPS, WITH SPECIFIC ORGANISATIONAL FLEXIBILITY SKILLS. STUDENTS - WILL ACQUIRE LINGUISTIC, CRITICAL AND INTERPRETATIVE SKILLS USEFUL FOR DETERMINING INDEPENDENT REFLECTIONS AND JUDGEMENTS IN SPECIFIC FIELDS OF STUDY; - BE ABLE TO COLLECT AND SELECT DATA AND RECOGNISE ITS RELEVANCE IN ORDER TO FORMULATE JUDGEMENTS ON SOCIO-CULTURAL ISSUES RELATING TO THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE, ALSO FROM AN INTERCULTURAL PERSPECTIVE. STUDENTS - WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE IN A COMPLETE, EFFECTIVE AND CORRECT MANNER, IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE, GENERAL INFORMATION AND SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR FIELD OF STUDY, INCLUDING THE USE OF COMPLEX SYNTACTIC STRUCTURES; - WILL HAVE ADEQUATE SKILLS FOR THE MANAGEMENT AND ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE, INCLUDING THROUGH IT TOOLS, OF INFORMATION, KNOWLEDGE AND IDEAS RELATED TO THEIR FIELD OF STUDY IN INTERNATIONAL AND/OR MULTICULTURAL CONTEXTS; - WILL BE ABLE TO PRODUCE CLEAR TEXTS ON A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS AND EXPRESS AN OPINION ON A CURRENT ISSUE, PRESENTING THE PROS AND CONS OF DIFFERENT OPTIONS; - WILL BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH SPECIALISTS AND NON-SPECIALISTS IN THE FIELD, USING SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION REGISTERS DEPENDING ON THE INTERLOCUTORS AND DIFFERENT SITUATIONAL CONTEXTS. STUDENTS WILL HAVE DEVELOPED THE LEARNING SKILLS NECESSARY TO - PERFECT THEIR LANGUAGE SKILLS; - UPDATE AND CONSOLIDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE; - APPLY THIS KNOWLEDGE TO DIFFERENT CONTEXTS. |
