Opportunities Buddy System
The University of Salerno promotes the Buddy System, an institutional program designed to foster cultural exchange and mutual support between international incoming students and local students enrolled at the University.
The aim of the project is to encourage interaction among students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, promoting integration, collaboration, and personal growth within the university community. International students receive practical support and guidance during their stay at the University of Salerno, while local students have the opportunity to develop intercultural, language, and interpersonal skills, experiencing internationalization at home.
Who can participate as a Buddy?
All local students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs at the University of Salerno.
Why participate?
Benefits for Buddies:
- Experience internationalization at home;
- Develop intercultural, language, and relational skills;
- Increase cultural awareness and cultural intelligence;
- Build connections with international students;
- Strengthen soft skills such as empathy and mutual support.
At the end of the program, local students (buddies) receive an official digital badge, issued by the University of Salerno through the C-BOX® platform and based on blockchain technology. This badge is formally recognized and can be included in a CV and shared on LinkedIn or other digital platforms as evidence of the skills acquired.
Who can participate as an Incoming student?
All international students attending a study period at the University of Salerno as part of an international mobility program, such as Erasmus+.

- Build connections with local students;
- Receive support within the campus environment;
- Strengthen soft skills such as empathy and mutual support.
At the end of the program, international students receive a Certificate of Appreciation issued by the University of Salerno as a symbolic acknowledgment of their active participation in the Buddy System and their contribution to intercultural exchange.
How to Participate
ACCESS
To join the Buddy System, log in to the Syntonia platform using:
- UNISA institutional email address (@studenti.unisa.it) for local students (buddies);
- Personal or university email address for international students (incomings)

REGISTRATION
After logging in:
- Complete your registration;
- Fill in your personal profile;
- Indicate your characteristics and preferences.
MATCHING
Based on the information provided, the system will automatically match incoming international students with local UNISA students.

Recruitment Dates
For the academic year 2025/2026, there will be two participation calls for the Buddy System, aligned with the beginning of each semester:
Call 1 – First Semester
- Call opens: July 2025
- Matching: September 2025
Call 2 – Second Semester
- Call opens: December 2025
- Matching: February 2026
Welcome Day
The matching between international students and local buddies will take place in person during the Welcome Day, an event organized at the beginning of each semester by the University of Salerno to welcome Erasmus students.
During this day, local buddies and incoming students will have the opportunity to meet for the first time.
