The artwork was donated to the University of Salerno by the heirs of the sculptor Mastoianni and was positioned near the rectory.

Umberto Mastroianni (Fontana Liri, September 21, 1910 - Marino, February 25, 1998) was a sculptor and Italian partisan, recipient of many honors.

After the war, the artist, through his artworks, was one of the most faithful to the moral meaning of the Resistance.
